Mika Edmondson points out how the eyewitness testimony of Gospel according to John affirms Jesus’s deity and paints a compelling picture of what God has done for us in Christ.
So we should believe that Jesus is God because the Bible clearly declares him to be so. John says that, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1). John goes on to declare that the Word didn’t simply stay in heaven, but that he came and dwelt among us (John 1:14).
It’s amazing to know that, in Christ, we have a God who is willing to come among us, to come among his people. And he didn’t just come among us and become one of us, but became one of us for the sake of saving us by sacrificing himself, agonizing for us, and dying for us.
Who wouldn’t serve a God like that––a God willing to give his very best, his very lifeblood, in order to rescue us from our sins?
