In September 2026, at a private meeting of TGC Council members, Kevin DeYoung gave a presentation on responding to Christian nationalism. Because the Council found it so helpful, DeYoung gave The Gospel Coalition permission to share his talk publicly.
DeYoung uses categories from Charles Hodge’s Systematic Theology to provide a framework for discussing Christian nationalism. DeYoung then goes on to ask a question: “If someone calls himself a ‘Christian nationalist,’ what does he mean?” He offers 15 answers someone might give to that question.
