Have you ever had one of those kinds of days? No, I mean the good kind. Everything goes your way. Productive, but not stressful. Full, but not tiring. Peaceful, but not boring.

Did you look back at the end of your memorable day and wonder if you had enjoyed an especially intimate quiet time with God? Did you seek to connect God’s favor with your circumstances?

Greg Gilbert wants to give us a bigger and better view of God’s favor, one that does not depend on our circumstances. Gilbert is the senior pastor of Third Avenue Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. He is the author of What Is the Gospel?, Who Is Jesus?, and Why Trust the Bible?, and co-author of What Is the Mission of the Church?: Making Sense of Social Justice, Shalom, and the Great Commission and The Gospel at Work: How Working for King Jesus Gives Purpose and Meaning to Our Jobs.

His most recent book is Favor: Finding Life at the Center of God’s Affection, published by Baker. And he joins me to discuss grace, hardship, the prosperity gospel, and more.
