Not many of us will spend 59 weeks teaching through the book of Exodus, but from August 2015 through June 2017, that’s what Kevin DeYoung did, making him the perfect person to talk about how to teach the book of Exodus. I interviewed DeYoung immediately after he was named the new pastor of Christ Covenant Church in Matthews, North Carolina, as well as an assistant professor of systematic theology at Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte. This meant DeYoung’s final sermon on Exodus was also his final sermon as pastor of University Reformed Church in Lansing, Michigan.

In this two-part conversation, DeYoung offers insights into how to deal with challenges like the hardening of Pharaoh’s heart, as well as opportunities like the theophanies, the tabernacle, and the golden calf.

Free eBook by Charles Spurgeon. ‘Fit to Lead: On the Call to Pastoral Ministry’

With the rate of pastors retiring, burning out, or concluding their ministries, the need has never been more urgent for aspiring ministry leaders to prepare well for their pastoral calling.

In the eBook Fit to Lead: On the Call to Pastoral Ministry, compiled by The Spurgeon Library at Midwestern Seminary, current and aspiring pastors will gain wisdom from Charles Spurgeon on how to discern and thrive in their call to pastoral ministry. In the short book, Spurgeon—the “Prince of Preachers”—discusses how to identify and encourage those called to ministry, as well as what steps to take in pursuing a call to ministry.
