“I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not harm, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
“I know the plans I want from you, Lord” says Me. “Plans of minimal pain, predictable outcomes, hardly any stress, and no conflicts. A life in which I’m surrounded by flexible, fun people—nobody is angry, needy, or whiney. It will include an abundance of biting fish and zero biting bugs. I can eat all I want and never gain and ounce. Then at a ripe age, Jesus, I want to go to sleep one night and wake up in heaven.” 1st Self 3:16
Lord Jesus, my “wish list” and your perfect plans often look quite different from each other. But you are our Master, not our masseuse—our King, not our concierge. Your plans for us are good even when they’re not easy, comfortable, or what we’d choose.
Wherever your will takes us, your grace will sustain us and your heart will surprise us. Because of all you have done for us our future is pregnant with all things new, beautiful and perfect. Because of all we are in you, you can’t love us more and you will never love us less. BOOM!
Jesus—by your Word, Spirit, and circumstances of your choosing, you are presently making us like yourself and working in all things for our good—no exceptions. Hallelujah and thank you. Continue to free us from under-believing the Gospel and over-believing our fears.
Free us to see more of your beauty, experience more of your peace, and live more of our RD’s (remaining days) for your glory, purposes, and delight. Jesus, increase our joy in giving and our delight in trusting. Indeed, grant us grace to trust your heart when we don’t see your hand. Hallelujah on Gospel-steroids! and So Very Amen.
