“My love knows no bounds.” Hosea 14:4
Dear Lord Jesus, whatever our malady, illness, heartache, or storyline—our greatest consolation is hearing you say to us, “My love knows no bounds.” Hallelujah, when it comes to your love, there are no “out of bounds.” None of us is beyond the need or reach of your love, for your love has a height, depth, width and breadth (Eph.3:18-19) that anticipate every location in the cosmos, every conceivable need, and every season of life.
Some of us are living with chronic pain, others with judgmentalism—either on the giving or receiving end. Many of us are challenged with the weight and wait of spouse-ing, parenting, or aging-parents care. Others are somewhere on the continuum of stage 1-4 stress, cancer, fear, unbelief, Gospel-amnesia, anger, and etc. We will struggle, feel vulnerable, wonder about your ways and timing… but will not despair, Jesus. For your love knows no bounds or boundaries, no limits or contingencies—no “ifs, ands, or buts.” We could never earn it, and we’ll never lose it (Rom.8:38-39).
Until the Day of perfect health and wholeness (Rev.21:1-5), we will seek to take care of ourselves: Guarding our hearts (Prov.4:23). Abiding in your love (Jn.15:9). Surrendering our thought-life to your Kingship and truth (2Cor.10:5). Setting our affection on things above—chiefly you (Col.3:1-4). Obeying your command to accept our limits, rest, and sleep (Ps.127:2). Exercising spiritually, physically, and emotionally (1Tim.4:8).
But our hope is in you, Jesus—in your delight not in our discipline, in your faithfulness not in our faith, in your grace not in our grip, in your return not in our resolve. So Very Amen.
