Right Now

I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my sanity returned to me, and I blessed the Most High—praising and honoring the God who lives forever. For his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom endures from generation to generation… ALL his works are right, and his ways are just. He can humble anyone, anytime, anywhere who walks in pride.” (Dan.4:34–37)
Loving, King Jesus, I’m grateful, needful and relish this vision of your sovereignty and your goodness. Like King Nebuchadnezzar, sometimes I think I’m more in control than I am. Other times I think and act like the consummate orphan—falling into poor-me fear and global anxiety. This happens whenever I listen to any “news” outlet more than I’m preoccupied with the Good News of the Gospel.
Indeed, help me and my friends live more of our hours, days, weeks, and months in Gospel-sanity. Free us to trade our “The world has never been worse” for a humble and robust, “The world has never been more His.” Because…
Right now, you are working all things together after the counsel of your will. Right now, you are working in all things for our good and your glory.
Right now, you not only have the heart of every king in your hand, you also have our hearts, stories, tears, days, pains, and joys in your hand.
Right now, Jesus, you do as you please with all the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth, and with us. Right now, everything you do is right, just, and right on time.
Right now, you are the King who is our Savior, Spouse, and Friend. Right now, it is so awesome and comforting to be yours, Lord Jesus—objects of your affection and subjects in your kingdom. So Very Amen.
