On today’s podcast, TGC president Don Carson shares thoughts on how to understand the prophecies in Isaiah that point to the promised Messiah, Jesus Christ.

  1. Isaiah gives us a spectacular expectation of a Davidic king (Isa. 9).
  2. Isaiah introduces us to the term “Immanuel” (Isa. 7:14).
  3. Isaiah introduces us to the Suffering Servant (Isa. 52:13–53:12).
  4. Isaiah promises a new heaven and new earth (Isa. 65:17).
  5. Isaiah looks forward to the ultimate freedom from exile brought about by the salvation we have in Christ Jesus.
  6. Isaiah promises a branch from the stump of Jesse, signaling hope after God’s judgment (Isa. 11).

Is there enough evidence for us to believe the Gospels?

In an age of faith deconstruction and skepticism about the Bible’s authority, it’s common to hear claims that the Gospels are unreliable propaganda. And if the Gospels are shown to be historically unreliable, the whole foundation of Christianity begins to crumble.
But the Gospels are historically reliable. And the evidence for this is vast.
