Position Summary
This associate pastor provides leadership and accountability for the church’s operational,
administrative, financial, human resources, facilities, technology and communication functions.
As a member of the pastor and elder teams, this individual also provides spiritual leadership
and shepherding in support of the church’s mission. While fully participating in the pastoral
ministry of the church, the primary focus of this role is operational and financial leadership.

Job Description

Operations Leadership
• Provide leadership and have responsibility for the church’s operational functions, including
facilities, technology, communications systems, safety, security and office administration.
• Supervise the operations staff, including admin, facilities, and food services personnel.
• Ensure that operational systems, processes and resources effectively support the mission,
ministries and strategic goals of the church.
• Recruit, train, equip and support volunteer teams serving operational functions, including
safety, security, parking and related ministries.
• Develop, document, implement and continually improve operational policies, procedures and standard operating practices that promote excellence, consistency and stewardship.
• Establish and maintain systems for the organization, retention, version control and secure
storage of church records and documents, including governance records, policies,
contracts, personnel files, financial records and facility-related documentation.

Human Resources

• Lead and ensure key human resource functions, including payroll, benefits administration,
onboarding and off boarding, and policy implementation.
• Partner with HR Deacon Team to develop, implement, and maintain personnel policies and
procedures that support staff effectiveness, accountability and organizational health.
• Serve as primary point of contact church’s relationship with HR Ministry Solutions.
• Recruit and hire operations staff as needed.

Facilities, Technology, Communications and Safety
• Lead and ensure the stewardship, maintenance, and effective use of church facilities,
grounds, church-owned residences, equipment and vendor relationships.
• Ensure the reliability, security and effectiveness of the church’s technology infrastructure,
software, platforms, website and applications
• Lead and have responsibility for the systems that support church communications, ensuring
timely, accurate, and effective communication with the congregation and community.
• Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of church safety, security and emergency preparedness programs.

Financial Administration
• Partner with the Budget and Finance Deacon Team to maintain, and recommend
improvements to financial systems, procedures, and internal controls that promote sound
stewardship, accountability and transparency.
• Lead the church’s annual budgeting process and assist ministry leaders and staff in
developing and managing their budgets.
• Direct accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking relationships and financial record
keeping processes.
• Provide timely financial reporting and budget-to-actual information to church leadership,
ministry leaders, staff, and congregation as appropriate.
• Ensure accurate reconciliation of financial accounts, maintenance of fixed asset records, and
compliance with audit requirements and established financial policies.

Pastoral Leadership
• Serve as a member of the pastoral and elder teams, helping to shepherd the flock and
advance out the mission and vision of SCC.
• Participate in all elder meetings, pastoral team meetings, staff meetings, deacon meetings,
retreats and other leadership gatherings as assigned.

• Provide pastoral care, encouragement and spiritual leadership to operational staff, deacons,
volunteers, and church members.
• Participate in the full range of pastoral duties including preaching and teaching, discipleship, pastoral care, weddings and funerals.
• While participating in the pastoral ministry of the church, maintain primary responsibility for the operational and financial leadership functions entrusted to this role.

Qualifications
• Born-again follower of Jesus Christ
• Meet the qualifications for elder/overseer in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-5.
• In full agreement with SCC’s doctrines, membership commitment and statement on social
principles.
• Minimum 5 years experience in related work desired.
• Proven leadership experience in operations, administration, business management, nonprofit
leadership , church administration or a related field
• Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to
lead multiple functions and priorities simultaneously
• Experience leading and developing staff, volunteers and teams through delegation,
accountability, and encouragement
• Demonstrated competency in financial administration, budgeting, and stewardship of
organizational resources
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with
staff, church leaders, volunteers, members and vendors
• High level of integrity, discretion, and sound judgment in handling confidential and sensitive
information
• Experience with church management software (Planning Center Online), accounting
software, budgeting systems and operational best practices
• Master’s level work in Bible or theology desired
