Nothing Takes Abba by Surprise; He Takes All Things by His Grace

“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” (Ps. 24:1).”The earth will be full of God’s glory and those who revere his glory—as full as water makes an ocean an ocean” (pp Hab.2:14)

Heavenly Father, one of my favorite hymns dropped like a Gospel-bomb into my fitful sleep last night. It sabotaged an opposite message the devil was suggesting, and my wandering thoughts were mulling. “This is my Father’s world, and to my listening ears all nature sings, and round me rings the music of the spheres. This is my Father’s world: I rest me in the thought…. Oh, let me never forget that though the wrong seems oft so strong God is the ruler yet.” Hallelujah on Gospel steroids!

One Day, this very earth will be filled, covered, saturated with your glory. Not might be, will be. And it will be populated with your gathered and glorified family. This was, is, and always will be your world—the canvas for the every-color-paint of your grace, redemption, and peace. You are creating a “Master-peace” because you are the Master and peace is the culture of your Kingdom.

As the hymn and your Word affirm, “the wrong seems oft SO strong.”  But you remain joyful, loving, and absolutely sovereign over “the earth, everything in it, and all who live on it.”  Hallelujah, you’re not just controlling all of history; you are also writing our individual stories.

Some of us wake up today in new chapters of our story we could not have imagined as 2026 began. But nothing takes you by surprise; you take all things by your grace. Father, “rest us” in this peace-giving good news. We don’t have to live as slaves to fear and worry; we can live with abandon to your glory and grace. Jesus is making all things new including us. Hallelujah, thank you, and So Very Amen.
