“Fear not, for you will not be ashamed; be not confounded, for you will not be disgraced; for you will forget the shame of your youth.” Isa. 54:4
Lord Jesus, we are so grateful for the healing truths of the Scriptures, and the liberating power of the Gospel. All because of you, our guilt is gone, and our shame is shattered. No longer “dis-graced,” we are now and forever “fully-graced.” No need to pose and pretend our way through life. No need to cover up, look down, or run away. In relationship with you, we are fully known and totally loved. Hallelujah!
“The Scripture says, ‘Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.’” (Rom. 10:11) – You neither despise our weaknesses, nor spurn our brokenness. You have robed us—once and for all, with the perfection of your righteousness; and every day you clothe us with garments of grace. You will convict us, but you will never shame us.
“Hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. (Rom. 5:5) – Today is Pentecost Sunday—the day we remember and revel in your gift of your Holy Spirit to us. Thank you!
We are now sealed, indwelt, and serenaded by the Spirit—who constantly sings to us of your glory, and non-stop about our beloved-ness (Rom. 8:16). May the Spirit’s voice drown out every other grace-less, shaming, fear-fueling voice. So very Amen we pray, in your grace-full name, Lord Jesus.
