Jonathan Edwards is considered by many to be the greatest theologian in American history. He was a pastor in Northampton, Massachusetts, in the 18th century in the midst of the First Great Awakening. The text of this sermon is found in The Glory and Honor of God: Volume 2 of the Previously Unpublished Sermons of Jonathan Edwards (ed. Michael McMullen; B&H, 2004), 338-41.
