“The life of every living thing is in his hand, and the breath of every human being.“ Job 12:10
Heavenly Father, we’re so thankful you “have the whole world in your hands.” This frees us to acknowledge the obvious—we do not. You are God and we are not. Hallelujah! So we come to you this morning in humility, gratitude, and praise. To complain is to tell the world how much we don’t like about our life; but to praise is to tell the world how worthy you are to be loved, adored, and trusted.
We don’t have control over the number of days remaining before you call us Home or how you will do so. Just fill the ones you’ve marked for us on the calendar of grace with as much intimacy with you as possible, as much peace as we can we can contain, and greater love for whoever is right in front of us.
We don’t have control over the unbelief, foolishness, wounds, and anger anybody carries in their hearts—but you do. Free us to stay present with kindness, wisdom, and hope. We are their servants, not their savior.
We don’t have control over the political landscape, the implications of AI, and the things that shock our sensibilities and magnify our vulnerability—but you do. Father, make Jesus’ empty throne, occupied throne, and immanent return more precious and real to us than ever.
We don’t have control over how much pain and suffering both us and our loved ones will experience in life—but you do. Knowing this keeps us sane even when it intensifies the mystery of your providence. You are writing our stories with a steady hand, the ink of grace, and a view to the Day of all things new. Thank you and Hallelujah, and So Very Amen.
