“Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory. So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you.” Col. 3:1-5
Heavenly Father, of all people, we should be the most humble, thankful, and kind. When we were dead in our sins and trespasses, you raised us to new life in Christ. Then you wrapped us with Jesus’ righteousness and hid us in your heart. Our past is redeemed, our present is grace-enveloped, and our future is beyond all imagining.
Hallelujah for so great a salvation, so wonderful a peace, and so glorious a hope. Father, we long for the Day we will only love and never sin again. Until then free us to be quicker to “put to death” things you’ve already forgiven. Sin still lurks within us, so we look to you in expectant reliance. We own, grieve, and repent of…
Attitudes that deny your grace.
Words that violate other’s peace.
Habits that sabotage kindness and beauty.
Passivity that accepts the unacceptable,
Pettiness that robs people we love.
Greed that finances our stinginess.
Unbelief that robs you of glory.
Thank you for daily mercies, the power of your Spirit, and good friends that help us grow in grace. So Very Amen.
