Stop Absorbing the Devil’s Condemnation and Other’s Contempt

“Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died–more than that, who was raised to life–is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.” Rom. 8:34

Heavenly Father, in light of the finished work of Jesus, and this magnificent portion of your Word, how dare we listen to the voice of the accuser, slanderer, liar—the devil? And why do we so easily absorb contempt from others, and beat ourselves up?

There is now, and never will be, any condemnation left for our sin (Rom. 8:1). Zilch, nil, nada, naught, goose-egg, zippo judgment is left hanging over us. Astonishing, but true. Hard to believe, but ours to enjoy. So contrary to our world, but the only hope in our world.

Because of our sin, Jesus had to die for us; but because of his love, Jesus was glad to do so, The just for the unjust, the lovely One for the loveless ones, the merciful for the mercurial, the righteous for the rebellious, the grace-full One for the self-filled ones? And now, you cherish us, Father. You actually cherish us. O for the Day we’ll never doubt it again.

Knowing Jesus is at your right hand interceding for us, we enter this September Wednesday with our palms up—in gratitude, peace, worship and surrender. So very Amen we pray, in Jesus’ mercy-full and almighty name.
