Abba Speaks to Us: “Remember the things I have done in the past. For I alone am God! I am God, and there is none like me. Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish”. (Isa.46:9-10).
Our Response to Abba: “Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases”. (Ps.115:3). “I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted.” (Job 42:2)
Abba, Father, it’s easy for us to get fearful, resentful, and angry with how random and out-of-control things seem to be in life—including in this current stretch of extreme violence in the Middle East. We own our concerns and vulnerability; but even more so, we own belonging to you and the riches of being “in Christ.”
We may not always see your hand, understand your ways, or like your timing—but these Scriptures remind us “hard stuff” isn’t sovereign; only you are. You never promised us that life between Jesus’ resurrection and return would be a “piece of cake”; but it is a feast of grace.
It’s a life of (1) centering and recentering on Jesus—the Creator, Sustainer, and Redeemer of all things (2) a life of living in response to Jesus’ empty tomb, occupied throne, and certain return, and (3) a life of engaging in Jesus’ commitment to make all things new by living and loving to your glory.
Ending this pray with a rhetorical question or two seems quite timely and appropriate, Abba. Can we still trust you in the chaos and uncertainties of life in 2026? Your Word and faithfulness shout, 100% “Yes!” Do you still, and will you always love us as much as you love Jesus. Your Gospel says, “Much more so than you understand, and 10,000 times more than you ever hoped.” Hallelujah, and So Very Amen.
