Jesus said, “It is finished” (John 19:30)
“We remember before our Father your work of faith, labor of love, and enduring hope in Jesus” (1Thess.1:3), and “God will not forget your work and the love you have shown him by caring for others” (Heb.6:10).
Lord Jesus, on this Labor Day holiday weekend, we are especially grateful for your finished work—for your labor of love given on our behalf. Everything changed when you cried out from the cross, “It is finished!” Hallelujah for the “once-and-for-all-ness” of your redeeming work on our behalf.
By your perfect life, you accomplished what we could never do for ourselves—you 100% fulfilled ALL the demands of the law on our behalf. By your death on the cross, you 100% exhausted ALL judgment against us. Because your labors are complete, Abba declares all who have received you to be guiltless and righteous, fully known and forever cherished, seated in the “heavenlies” and rooted in love, standing in grace and sealed for eternity. Our permanent address is “in Christ” and our most “eternal passport” proclaims we are citizens of heaven.
10,000 Hallelujahs! The arrogance and fear of performance-based acceptance with God have been exposed as lies and replaced with the Gospel. The work we now offer our Father and neighbors are labors of love. We work from love not for love—from a place of rest not by the tyranny of restlessness—not to get anything but because we’ve already received everything in you—not to get crowns but to throw crowns at your feet one Day, Jesus (Rev.4:10-11).
So none of us need to preorder from Amazon a neck brace to balance all our crowns. You are the glorious Point; we are grateful pointers. On Labor Day weekend 2026, we are so very grateful for you and the Gospel, Jesus. So Very Amen.
