“The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship” (Ps.19:1). “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.” (Rev.4:11).
Heavenly Father, all it took was inhaling the air enveloping a friend’s ranch in Montana to bring these Scriptures to mind. Slow… me… down… Abba. I’ve been too busy lately to notice, hear, and savor creation singing your praise, revealing your beauty, and declaring your glory.
Nature-speak is endless and everywhere. It’s you beckoning us to childlike wonder. It’s kaleidoscope, megaphone, and smorgasbord of your goodness and beauty. How can anyone with a heartbeat ponder your creation and not believe in you… and finally, adore you?
You hand paint every Brookie, Brown, and Rainbow trout, and decorate our bird friends with feather-artistry that stuns us… when we have margin for marveling. Father, I heard you singing in the gurgling music of a freshwater creek last evening, and the moon appeared 10 times brighter than usual. Slow me down even more, Abba. A busy life is a barren life. A life without marvel is a life without meaning. You are the wonder in wonderful. You are the awe in awesome.
You imprinted the permanent smile on the face of dolphin and taught them to dance. You created the explosive sweetness of Georgia peaches, summer watermelon, and honey crip apples We owe you the debt of love not only for your daily mercies, but also your daily sunrises and sunsets.
Father, may we hear you speaking louder than ever to us, not only in the things you have made, but also in the One you have sent—Jesus. Creation + Redemption = Riches beyond calculation. So Very Amen.
