“Lit-up” Hearts, Not Just “Lit-up” Homes

“Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift—the boundless, incomparable, liberating, healing, hope-fueling, and all-life-transforming riches of Christ!” (pp 2 Cor.9:15, Eph. 3:8 + the whole Bible)

Heavenly Father, we’re still a week away from Thanksgiving, but over half of the homes in my neighborhood already have Christmas decorations “up and lit.”  As a country, we seem ready for a shift in the cultural temperature—craving less tension, division, and meanness, and more ultimate hope and present kindness.

That shift is truly and only possible through what Paul calls the “indescribable gift” and “boundless riches” of the Gospel. Here are 7 of numberless reasons why all hyperbole and exaggeration “go out the window” when we’re talking about the astonishing “riches of Christ.” Why have “lit-up” hearts and not just “lit-up” homes? Because you have already given us…

  1. Full forgiveness, Christ’s righteousness, and your 100%, unwavering favor.
  2. A new heart that beats for you and for the things that matter to you.
  3. We are in Christ, Jesus now lives in us, and he’ll never leave/forsake us.
  4. The assurance that one Day we will be totally sin-free and fully Jesus-like.
  5. All the legal rights and personal delights of being your adopted, cherished, seen-and-known children.
  6. An eternity of “all-things-new,” nothing broken, all-evil-gone, and only perfect, caring, and thriving relationships.
  7. The promise and peace that you are presently at work in all things for our good.

Okay, Father, that may have been closer to 17 than 7 reasons to risk hoping and trusting you November 19, 2025, and all the way Home.  Thank you, and So Very Amen.
