Jesus Is on His Throne Not in a Recliner

“When Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God “(Heb.10:12).
Lord Jesus, we have so many reasons to love, adore, and trust you. For after you cried out “It is finished”—you were far from done with other things. After your resurrection and ascension to Abba’s right hand, you didn’t sit back in a recliner; you climbed onto your throne.
Ever since that glorious moment, no one has been more active, loving, and engaged than you are. Hallelujah, and thank you. Here is a Baker’s Dozen of a multitude of things you are joyfully doing. Make each of them real, dear, and peace-fueling to us.
You are actively…
  • Making all things new (Rev.1:5)
  • Singing to us in the Gospel (Zeph.3:17)
  • Delighting in us as your Bride (Isa.62:5)
  • Interceding for us constantly (Heb.7:25)
  • Working in all things for our good (Rom.8:28)
  • Redeeming your Bride from every nation (Rev.7:9)
  • Enjoying fellowship with the Father and us (1Jn 1:3)
  • Sustaining all things by your powerful word (Heb.1:3)
  • Being worshipped by everyone in heaven (Rev.5:9-19)
  • Putting all your enemies under your feet (1Cor.15:25)
  • Ruling over kings, crises, and circumstances (Rev.1:4b-6)
  • Fixing to usher in the new heaven and new earth (Rev.1:1-4)
  • Reminding us you are our righteousness when we sin (1Jn.2:1-2)
Jesus, truly, you are our most wonderful, merciful Savior. By your Spirit, Word, and presence—wilt our fears, shrink our unbelief, deepen our joy, supersize our hope, free us to live and love to your glory all the way Home. So Very Amen.
