How Great Is the Father’s Love for Us?

“I have loved you with an everlasting, unwavering, absolute love. With my unfailing love I drew you to myself and will keep you for myself.” (pp Jer. 31:3, Jude 1)
Heavenly Father, by a tapestry of Scriptures and the comprehensive voice of your entire Word, here’s what you are saying to us today:
How everlasting and unfailing is your love for us? It has no beginning or end and cannot be measured or imagined. You loved us before the world began—before we showed any promise or made and broke our first promise. You never looked at what we would do for you, but only what you chose to do for us. It’s your grace, not our grit that saves us. You sent Jesus to accomplish our entire salvation. He isn’t our “little helper”; he’s our perfect life—our “righteousness, holiness, and redemption.”
Before Jesus died on the cross for us, he lived in our place for us—fulfilling the law and its demands. You credited all of Jesus’ finished work to us and hid our lives securely in his. And now, we cannot add to your love for us, and we cannot decrease it. You will cease to be God before your affection for us will wane or fail, is exhausted or withdrawn.
Even when you discipline us—bringing the pain of correction, it’s with a heart of compassion and kindness. You will humble us but never humiliate us. You will shape us but never shame us.  You began your work of redemption in us and you will surely complete it (Phil.1:6). Oh Father, thank you. Make these riches of grace—the truth of the Gospel, more precious and real to us than ever. So Very Amen.
