Heavenly Father, this one little verse underscores the importance of praying for each other. Samuel felt he would be sinning if he failed to continue in prayer for his fellow believers and friends in Israel. That’s pretty big stuff.
We don’t have to understand how our prayers are written into the grand symphony of your sovereignty. Our calling is just to bring each other to the occupied throne of grace. So here we come.
We pray for families struggling in this new season of “doing school”—online, on campus, on pins and needles. Help us be sensitive to each other, and how economically and emotionally challenging this storyline is. Keep our kids safe, please.
We pray for pastors and church planters. COVID has only intensified an already difficult and exhausting calling. Grant them rich fellowship with Jesus, wisdom from on high, and Spirit-fueled encouragement.
We pray for police and sheriff departments. The pressure is great. The responsibilities are overwhelming. Decisions have to be made in split-seconds. Have mercy on them, and us, Father.
We pray for those working on vaccines and advanced cures for this snarky virus, that just won’t go away. Until then, give us more peace in wearing our masks than irritation towards those who don’t.
Father, fill our own hearts with fresh love for Jesus, Gospel-kindness, Kingdom-hope, and Spirit-sensitivity to pray for one another. So very Amen we pray, in Jesus’ most awesome name.
