Dear Lord Jesus, Peter’s words are so encouraging and hope fueling. I long for the Day when knowing you in part will give way to knowing you as fully as a redeemed creature possibly can. Indeed, I crave the moment when seeing you will no longer require faith or imagination, or waiting or repentance. Hasten the Day, Lord; hasten the arrival of the all-limitations-lifting, whole-world-transforming Day—when we will see you as you are, and we will be made like you.
Everything I already know about you fills my heart with awe, worship, and joy, Lord Jesus; but there’s so much more to see and know. I feel like I’m a babe in the woods of gospel-wonder; a neophyte prospector in the mountains of grace-riches; a child wearing water wings, as I wade into the bottomless ocean of your glory and love. Continue to open the eyes of my heart, Lord Jesus. Show me more of yourself; expand my capacity for knowing and marveling at you.
The joy from being pursued, known, and loved by the Creator of all things, is immeasurable. The delight born from knowing you gave your life for us—fulfilling the law, taking our judgment, becoming our righteousness, is incomparable. And the elation I feel, as I ponder your return—Bridegroom for his bride, Lover for his beloved, Friend of sinners for chief of sinners, is inexpressible.
Until that Day, keep me hungry and thirsty for yourself, Lord Jesus. May all my idols fail me, and all my broken cisterns remain broken. So very Amen I pray, in your peerless and precious name.
