On Monday of what we now call Holy Week, Jesus of Nazareth cursed a fig tree as a visual parable (Matt. 21:18–19; Mark 11:12–14) and cleansed the Temple (Matt. 21:12–13; Mark 11:15–18; Luke 19:45–48).

What was going on here? How are these two incidents related?

In the video above I’m joined by New Testament scholars Nicholas Perrin (now the president of Trinity International University) and the late Grant Osborne (who taught at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School) to orient us to these questions.
