Church Revitalization: Leading in an Age of Leaving

This panel titled Church Revitalization: Leading in an Age of Leaving with Robert Jacobsen, Ric Rodeheaver, and P. J. Tibayan was delivered at The Gospel Coalition’s 2018 West Coast Conference in Fullerton, California.

In our consumer driven culture we seldom repair things any more. We replace everything from cars to TVs with “new and improved.” Sometimes that mentality even creeps into the life of our churches. Rather than sticking it out and struggling through the healing process, people and pastors just move on, and in doing so often miss the opportunities to see God’s healing power at work in the life of individuals and a community. After all, we worship a God who brings the dead to life. You may be in a church that is dying, or God may be calling you to become a part of a church that needs revitalization. The goal of this breakout session is to encourage pastors and members alike in the work of church revitalization. We discuss the strategic importance of the task, practical implications for those willing to engage it, and pastoral realities that need to be addressed. The session includes recommended resources, great stories of God’s faithfulness, and a time of Q&A.
