“To him who loves us, freed us from our sins by his blood, and made us a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power forever and ever! Amen.” Revelation 1:5–6
Lord Jesus, until the Day of all things new, help us more fully grasp the wonder and riches of this short, gigantic phrase: “To him who loves us. ” Though every page of the Scripture either shadows, suggests, or shouts about your love to us, this verse states it in the present tense. You don’t love a future version of us, but as we are in this very October 2026 moment. Hallelujah and thank you.
You love us unconditionally, because you have met all the conditions for our salvation; passionately, because that is who you are and how you love; unwaveringly, because you don’t love us to the extent we are like you but in you—which is 100%.
How awesome that this kiss of grace would be found in the opening words to the last book of the Bible. “Jesus loves me, this I know for the Bible tells me so.” Last words make a lasting impression, and they are pregnant with implications. This is why we also affirm with great humility and joy: “Jesus knows me, this I love.” You know us—not just about us. This frees us from posing, preening, and pretending. Hallelujah… we will never shock you and you will only love us.
Rescue us in our moments of temporary insanity when other loves seem more appealing, satisfying, and real.
Free us to live out the radical implications of your love—by loving others as you love us; and by living lives that adorn the Gospel and reveal your truth, goodness, and beauty.
Transform us, Jesus, as we continue to ponder the height, depth, width, and breadth of your love. So Very Amen.
