“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. Rev. 3:20

Lord Jesus, thank you for perpetually pursuing us—for desiring to engage with us in deeper, richer, lingering fellowship. Thank you for providing the context of creation as the banquet hall of your grace; culinary delights of well prepared food, gospel-bread from heaven and living water to slake our perpetual thirst.

Thank you that the laughter gets louder, our hearts get warmer, and hope gets ignited when you are at the head of the table. You are so kind, creative and generous, Jesus.

And thank you for dining mates from different backgrounds, carrying different stories and brokenness, wounds and longings, yet sharing a common desire of coming more fully alive to your love—the only love that is better than life, the only love that will ever be enough. Fortunately, this is a desire you are most glad, zealous and committed to fulfill.

Jesus, last evening—late into the night, fifteen of us shared just such a banquet of your grace. On a high hill in Montana, after a full day of fellowship, you met with us. The setting and sightings, savory goodness and spectacular sunset couldn’t have been more perfect. It was one of those moments that reminds us of our sure and coming future. We long for the Wedding Feast of the Lamb—the Day when we begin feasting in the house of Zion forever—Beloved Bride, with most glorious and loving Bridegroom. Hasten that Day, Jesus.

Indeed, we long for the Day when we will no longer know you in part, love you with divided hearts, or be tricked into thinking life can be found somewhere else than in you. Thank you, that until the Day when we will see you as you are and we will be made like you—thank you that you will continue to give us daily mercies, sufficient grace, and traveling companions. May we encourage one another, and all the more as we see that great Day approaching. So very Amen I pray, in your tender and triumphant name.
