Lord Jesus your mercy is literally our “wake up call,” and your grace is the air we breathe every day. When you gave us your righteousness we stopped fearing death and when you took your place on your throne we stopped fearing life. Big “Whew!” and a bigger “Hallelujah!”
You fulfill Isaiah’s prophecy and every other promise God has made. Only your government and peace meet the needs of our sinful hearts, the broken world, and groaning creation (Rom. 8:19-23). Politics and polls, mid-term and full-term elections come and go; but you and your Kingdom are now and forever.
Through your resurrection and ascension you were installed as “the ruler of kings on earth” (Rev. 1:5)—and everything else (Eph.1:9-10). King David’s throne is your throne of grace and all History is Your Story. Eternal discretion always has been and always will be greater than every human election.
We plan and you order our steps (Prov.16:9). We vote and you determine the now-and-forever of the entire cosmos. So why do we vote? Because you’ve called us to be good dual-citizens—of the country of our birth and this short life, and of our Forever Home and eternal life.
Jesus, no one and nothing can disrupt, derail, deter, or distract you from completing your work of redemption and the renewal of the entire cosmos. You never promised to do all things acceptable to us, but you have promised to do all things good for us. Thank you, Jesus!
One Day the earth—(this earth not, a replacement earth), will be filled with your glory (Isa.11:9). All things will be new (Rev.21:5), everything will be beautiful (Ecclesiastes 3:11), and we will be fully like you (1Jn.3:3). We are so blessed, so loved, so very yours, Jesus. So Very Amen.
