Glory to God in the highest heaven, (the angels exclaimed), and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” (Luke 2:14); “What do you want with us, Son of God?” they (the demons) shouted. “Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?” (Matt. 8:29); “You (Jesus) turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy” (Psalm 30:11).

Lord Jesus, I just woke up in my Franklin, TN time zone (Central), six hours behind friends we left yesterday in Maynooth, Ireland. But the time zone I’m loving best is the GTZ—the Gospel Time Zone. I want to live the rest of my days with the GTZ as my most permanent, transcendent frame of reference for everything.

When you are present and acknowledged, Jesus, everything gets put into its proper perspective. History finds its meaning. Problems shrink to their proper size. Worries wilk and fears are tamed. Time takes on your schedule and appointments. Suffering finds dignity, and evil is served notice. Healing begins, with its promised fullness secured.

Jesus, when you are beheld in your glory and grace, angels worship you, demons tremble at your presence, and we dance with joy. The past two weeks in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland have convinced me of this afresh.

On this May Saturday morning—no matter our particular time zones, crucibles, conundrums, and crises, we whisper and shout, “Thank You.” Because of you, Jesus, God’s permanent favor rests on us. Because of you the devil and demons know their time is short. Because of you we aren’t just clothed with joy, but also with your righteousness. Because of you, Jesus, we won’t just feast in the House of Zion, we’ll dance there. So Very Amen.
