5 of My Favorite “I” Promises Jesus Made

“I give you my peace” Jn.14:27. Lord Jesus, thank you and Hallelujah! God is at peace with us and we have peace with God because you are our peace. Any doubts we may have about what God thinks of us are beatdown and crushed under the weight of your grace. Thank you for giving us peace—not a mere panacea or pacifier.

“I will give you rest” Matt. 11:28.  Life between your resurrection and return can be exhausting, disillusioning, heart breaking, and body wearying. Thank you for your promise of rest as we head Home. You haven’t promised us a suffering free life but you have promised will never have a Jesus-absent, mercy-lacking, or grace-void day.

“I hold the keys” Rev.1:18.  You don’t just hold the keys of “life and death,” but you are the key to every door, circumstance, global uncertainty, and chapter in our stories. And BIG Hallelujah, you never have to ask, “Where did I put my keys?”

“I am making all things new” Rev.21:5. Jesus, we are grateful to know this is happening right now on this October 2026 Monday. You aren’t making all new things (a story of replacement); you are making all things new (a story or redemption). You ARE ruling the world “with truth and grace”—that’s not just a line from one of our favorite hymns (Joy to the World).

“I am coming soon” Rev.22:12. Cynics think you were lying, confused, or manipulating your young disciples. But Hallelujah, a “prolonged soon” highlights your great mercy and patience. On the calendar of grace, “soon” has a timetable as trustworthy and wait-worthy as God is faithful and the Gospel is glorious. Thank you and So Very Amen.
