Job Overview

Job Summary

The Refuge Church Children’s Minister will provide leadership and oversight for the children’s ministry of our growing church plant. This part-time role is ideal for someone who loves Jesus, has a zeal for the spiritual formation of children, and enjoys building ministry from the ground up. The Children’s Minister will create a safe, welcoming, and Christ-centered environment where children can grow in their faith.

As our church is already growing, we are seeking a leader who is excited to help establish a thriving children’s ministry that reflects our mission, values, and culture.

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

1.Ministry Leadership

  • Lead a biblically grounded children’s ministry for toddlers through early elementary-aged children.
  • Foster a welcoming and safe environment for children.
  • Oversee Sunday morning programming and any additional children’s events.

2.Volunteer Development

  • Recruit, train, and schedule children’s ministry volunteers.
  • Build a healthy volunteer culture focused on discipleship, excellence, and love for God and others.
  • Ensure all volunteers complete required background checks and child safety training.

3.Vision and Collaboration

  • Work closely with the pastoral team to support the overall mission of the church.
  • Help shape the future growth and direction of the children’s ministry.

 

Qualifications

  1. Demonstrates a genuine love for the Lord and other people with and through a Christ-honoring life.
  2. Is committed to the vision, values, and beliefs of Refuge Church, including our Statement of Faith.
  3. Possesses a warm personality that connects well with all kinds of people, especially children.
  4. Must successfully complete a background check.

 

Schedule & Compensation

  1. Part-time (approximately 10–20 hours per week, depending on church needs).
  2. Regular Sunday morning presence required.
  3. Flexible weekday hours for planning, volunteer coordination, and ministry preparation.
  4. Compensation will be $1,000 per month
