Jesus’ Name Is Redeemer—Not Replacer or Re-Doer

“Jesus will wipe every tear out of their eyes. There won’t be any more death, mourning, crying, or pain—for the old order of things has passed away.” He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making all things new!’” Rev.21:4-5

Lord Jesus, more than ever, we crave the coming Day “no more death” and “all things new.” Your death was the death of death and your resurrection is the first-fruits and guarantee of perpetual newness—the New Creation world of perfect everything.

As with the body we now groan in, so with the world we’ve always lived in, you aren’t going to destroy and replace them; you will resurrect, renew, and glorify them. Places in the world that are dear to us now will only be more dear to us forever. Indeed Jesus, your name is Redeemer; not Replacer or Re-Doer. All the more reason to love you, worship you, and serve you with our aching bodies and longing hearts in our very broken world.

Every form of demise, disease, decay, and death will be gone forever. No more hospitals or hospice, picking out caskets for loved ones or grieving the death of the environment. No more knowing and loving you in part, Jesus; but becoming 100% like you and loving you with everything we have and are. Hallelujah!

In fact, every relationship we have will be healed, healthy, and whole. Not only will we love and remember each other, we will only be able to love each other as fully as you love us. But not just the people we now know; but also the forever family you are redeeming for us from every nation and tribe, place on the globe and period in history.

You will wipe every tear out of our eyes and redeem all the pain, trauma, and “Why, Lord’s?” behind our tears. Hasten the Day, Jesus, and deepen our love for you until that Day. So Very Amen.
