Children’s Ministry Nursery Coordinator – The Crossing |
Job Summary
The Nursery Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the nursery and preschool program for children ages 8 months – 5 years of age. This includes ensuring a safe, nurturing, and spiritually enriching environment. The coordinator will manage nursery staff and volunteers, maintain nursery facilities, and implement programs that align with the church’s mission to help children know Jesus, live like Jesus, and experience the Lord.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Oversight
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that introduce young children to the love of Jesus.
- Along with the Children’s Ministry Director, develop and maintain a curriculum that fosters spiritual growth and development.
- Staff Management
- Recruit, train, and supervise nursery staff and volunteers.
- Schedule staff and volunteers to ensure proper coverage during services and events.
- Weekly communication with Children’s Ministry Director to address needs and developments within the nursery program.
- Safety and Compliance
- Ensure the nursery environment is safe, clean and welcoming.
- Implement and enforce policies and procedures to protect children, including health and safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and other relevant information.
- Parent and Guardian Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and guardians in the nursery and preschool program.
- Address any concerns or questions from parents promptly and effectively.
- Facility Management
- Ensure nursery facilities are well-maintained and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Coordinate with Children’s Director and Maintenance Staff improvements needed in nursery area.
- Spiritual Leadership
- Model a Christ-like attitude and behavior in all interactions.
- Encourage spiritual growth within the nursery and preschool team among the children.
- Participate in church events and activities to foster a sense of community and support for the broader ministry.
- Qualifications
- A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and passion for children’s ministry.
- Previous experience in early childhood education or nursery management preferred.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with children, parents, volunteers, and church staff.
- CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
- Must pass background check.
- Working Conditions
- Must be available to work Sundays, holidays, and during special church events.
- Ability to lift and carry children and nursery equipment as necessary.
