Exegetical Dictionary of the New Testament, vol. 1: ’Aapẃv-‘Evẃx

Written by Horst Balz and Gerhard Schneider (eds.) Reviewed By Craig Blomberg

The initial instalment of the translation of the Exegetisches Wörterbuch zum Neuen Testament offers for the first time to the English reader a reference tool which combines the strength of Bauer’s lexicon and Kittel’s dictionary. Like the former, every word in the Greek NT receives an entry. Like the latter, theologically significant words get extended treatment, particularly with reference to distinctive uses of various NT writers. The contributors reflect the contemporary range of German university scholarship.
