Why should someone love Jesus? Lots of reasons. Here’s one for starters. If, hypothetically, there might be something about yourself you don’t like, there might be episodes in your past that grieve you, there might be things about you that you wish you could change and you’ve tried to change, and you can’t.
If you’ve ever had a moment where looking at yourself, you’re thinking, “You mean I’m stuck with this for the duration?” I mean, if you’re completely pleased with yourself, I don’t know…Yeah, why would you get involved with Jesus?
But if you know the pain of self-discovery, Jesus is the human being who walked this path we all walk and never stumbled, came out of it with no regrets. And when he looks at you and me with all of our flaws and failings, amazingly, he does not despise us.
Our very failings only move him to love us more deeply. Man, I need him in my life. How about you?
