Job Overview

King’s Church is a Christ-centered, multi-ethnic, spiritual family, shaped by the Bible and connected to the historic Reformed Presbyterian faith. We are part of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). King’s Church Youth encompasses grades 6-8 (Middle School) and 9-12 (High School) and consists of about 15-20 youth. We meet weekly during the school year with monthly social events.

The Youth Ministry Intern is a female college or seminary student that has a passion to make disciples of Jesus Christ among middle and high schoolers and collaborates with the staff and pastors of King’s Church in our ministry to youth, volunteer leaders, and parents. Time is spent connecting with and discipling students—especially the female students, connecting with parents, empowering volunteers, and generally partnering with the pastors and staff to minister to the congregation’s youth.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities


  • Meet with female students one-on-one on a regular basis
  • Teach Bible studies and discipleship materials during weekly youth gatherings and potentially in other contexts on a regular basis
  • Lead small group discussion during weekly youth gatherings
  • Keep attuned to the needs, concerns, and goals of regularly attending youth

Community Formation

  • Help plan and execute weekly youth gatherings with the youth team (Assistant Pastor & volunteer youth leaders)
  • Help plan and execute monthly social events and annual retreats with the youth team
  • Help plan and execute service days and outreach events with the youth team
  • Be present for weekly youth groups and youth events
  • Connect with students via text, social media, etc., answering questions, making announcements, and fostering an online community

Ministry Collaboration

  • Meet regularly with the youth team (Assistant Pastor & volunteer youth leaders)
  • Partner with parents and volunteer youth leaders to support the spiritual growth of the youth
  • Communicate youth ministry goals and needs to the pastoral staff, parents, and congregation

Ministry Development

  • Help train and empower volunteer youth leaders to shepherd the youth
  • Provide resources and develop content to help the volunteer youth leaders disciple the youth
  • Plan and participate in the process for crafting pastors’ and elders’ vision for youth development milestones


  • A love for Christ and His Church
  • A growing relationship with God marked by godly character and practice of spiritual disciplines (consistent time in God’s Word, prayer, active in your local church, etc.)
  • Eagerness to build relationships with middle and high school youth
  • Basic familiarity with Reformed doctrine and a willingness to teach in a way consistent with it (candidates who are unfamiliar or take exception(s) to particular Reformed doctrines are still encouraged to apply, but should communicate questions or reservations in their application)
  • Demonstrated skills in planning and organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience leveraging technology, social platforms, and digital platforms for youth ministry
  • Musical ability is preferred, but not required
  • High school graduate and working towards a bachelors or graduate degree, preferably in ministry
  • Licensed driver with reliable transportation to travel to and from youth gathering and events


Works with: Youth, parents, volunteer youth leaders

Reports to: Assistant Pastor

Hours: 10-12 hours/week

Stipend: $1000/month
