North Church is a vibrant and healthy church in the heart of Albuquerque, New Mexico. We are a church that seeks to treasure the Gospel of Jesus Christ together. Our church community is primarily made up of younger families amongst a strong group of faithful saints. We are part of the Acts 29 Church Planting Network and are focused, as a body, on care for one another as well as evangelism, mission, and church planting.

We have existed under various names in our 21-year history as a local church and in Spring 2021, we will move back into the Nob Hill neighborhood of our city and return to our former name, “City on a Hill”. We are currently renovating our first-ever permanent facility and hope to move into it in 2022.

We are seeking a gospel-centered, humble, and qualified person to lead our Worship Ministry & Student Ministry.

Job Description

General Expectations for the Worship & Students Director:

  • Have a healthy, mature, and growing relationship with Jesus.
  • Have theological, philosophical, and relational unity with North Church leaders.
  • Agree with the leadership structure of North Church as defined in the bylaws and agree with the Membership Covenant.
  • Willing to see himself/herself as a team player, which may mean fulfilling duties not normally associated with this role as needed and directed by the leadership of North Church.
  • Has both the spiritual and relational warmth that reflects the heart of Christ for others and draws people to themselves as a spiritual leader.
  • Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and communicate and coordinate relevant information and events with other staff and elders.
  • Work to develop trust with other staff.
  • Abide by the Staff Covenant and Employee Handbook.
  • Submit to a bi-annual job performance evaluation.

Overall Responsibilities of the Worship & Students Director:

  • Oversee the Student Ministry vision and direction in line with North Church.
  • Recruit and train volunteers to serve in the ministry.
  • Build relationships with students.
  • Provide sound biblical teaching.
  • Oversee and facilitate small groups where students and young adults can connect relationally and be vulnerable.
  • Create a culture of equipping students to reach their lost friends for Christ.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents and young adults.
  • Oversight of worship ministry vision and direction.
  • Lead worship on 85% of Sundays (approximately 44 Sundays per year).
  • Discipleship of band leaders and worship team members.
  • Creative freedom to direct aspects of worship ministry (lights, song selection, decor, lighting, etc) in conjunction with the Lead Pastor.
  • Recruit volunteers to fill bands and create audition opportunities for potential volunteers.
  • Train and develop musicians to improve the overall quality of worship ministry and provide feedback to band leaders.
  • Schedule bands and production volunteers for Sunday service and, as needed, for church events.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Able to engage youth and create a fun environment.
  • Able to teach from the Bible.
  • Proficient in guitar and/or keyboard.
  • Has a thorough grasp of the fundamentals of music theory.
  • Able to lead and communicate with musicians of varying abilities and experience.
  • Proficient in using Planning Center, CCLI, and Song Select.
  • Able to exercise discernment for song selections with sound theology.
