Serbo-Croatian Relief Project

The Serbian-speaking Church

After Communism, Milosevic and the NATO bombing, Serbia has struggled to gain not only its economic but also its theological footing for the last 15 years. In Serbia, Evangelical Christians represent less than 0.1% of the population, and most Evangelical churches are unregistered with the government. Due to past persecution, churches are often small, insular and divided. There is a great need for practical training and resources to equip church members and leaders. Few theological books are written or translated for Serbo-Croatian speakers, and most of what has been done is largely devotional or even theologically misleading. This vacuum has led to false teaching, error and division within the church.

The internet has opened spiritual doors for those Serbians who speak English, but unfortunately those doors have often led to spurious theology. National pastors and leaders need help. Formal theological training is also beginning to grow, but is in need of textbooks for students, many of whom do not speak adequate English.

Mark Dever, Nine Marks of a Healthy Church

You may have read books on this topic before—but not like this one. Instead of an instruction manual for church growth, this classic text offers tried and true principles for assessing the health of your church. Whether you’re a pastor, a leader, or an involved member of your congregation, studying the nine marks of a healthy church will help you cultivate new life and well-being within your own church for God’s glory.

R.C. Sproul, Everyone’s a Theologian

Many people react negatively to the word theology, believing that it involves dry, fruitless arguments about minute points of doctrine. Yet as Dr. R.C. Sproul argues, everyone is a theologian. Any time we think about a teaching of the Bible and strive to understand it, we are engaging in theology. Therefore, it is important that we put the Bible's varied teachings together in a systematic fashion, using proper, time-tested methods of interpretation so as to arrive at a theology that is founded on truth.

Serbo-Croatian is a South Slavic language and the primary language of Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and parts of Kosovo. It is also recognized as a minority language of Austria, Hungary, Italy, Romania, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Macedonia.
