Gospel and Sexuality

This breakout session titled Gospel and Sexuality by Roy Kim was delivered at The Gospel Coalition’s 2018 West Coast Pre-Conference in Fullerton, California. The two-day pre-conference was titled Reclaiming the Center: Understanding Gospel Centrality for Asian Americans.

How to minister to sex addicts in your church as Jesus would – Most polls show that the majority of people in our congregations struggle with sex addiction on some level. And yet, hardly anyone talks about it because of the shame and the risks. Many pastors and church leaders hate broaching the topic because (1) they don’t know how to talk about it, or (2) they fear losing their job/reputation if they admit their own sex addiction. The problem is that the more we avoid addressing sex addiction and spearheading efforts to heal it, the more our families and souls suffer. The good news is that in John 8, Jesus models for us how He ministers to those struggling with sexual sin. This breakout also seeks to help listeners know Gospel-centric best practices in helping sex addicts recover.
