During Jesus’ ministry he alleviated the suffering of many as he healed the sick, opened blind eyes, and delivered those inhabited by demons. But he didn’t eliminate all suffering. And the people he healed still died. If we are to follow Peter’s instruction to arm ourselves with Jesus’ way of thinking about suffering, we need to know how Jesus thought about the suffering of this life.
