Kindle Deal: The Path of Celtic Prayer: An Ancient Way to Everyday Joy by Calvin Miller. $3.99.
Seven of the best articles I came across this week:
1. Matt Queen – Toward a “By the Book” and “From the Heart” Kind of Evangelism. Don’t complicate evangelism. Share the message of Jesus!
2. Lori Branch’s review of Curtis Freeman’s Undomesticated Dissent. Coming from a dissenting tradition, I appreciated this reflection on the strengths and weaknesses of this approach to Christian witness.
3. Farhad Manjoo – For Two Months I Got My News from Print Newspapers. Interesting reflection on the immediacy of breaking news and what we gain when we miss out on it.
4. Amy Peterson on Lin Zhao – How Christian Faith Led a Single Woman to Defy Chairman Mao. Stories like this are simultaneously troubling and inspirational. Let this urge you on to praying more for the persecuted church.
5. Kathryn Schulz – When 26,000 Stinkbugs Invade Your Home. I had no idea that this was becoming a problem until I came across this well-written report in The New Yorker. Here’s hoping it doesn’t spread across the country!
6. Paula Cocozza – No Hugging. Are we living through a crisis of touch?
7. Winston Churchill and Teddy Roosevelt. Roosevelt didn’t care for Churchill at all, perhaps because they were so much alike.
