Kindle Deal: My “theology in story” book Clear Winter Nights: A Journey into Truth, Doubt, and What Comes After is only $1.99 this weekend.

Seven of the best articles I came across this week:

1. Joel J. Miller – Ten Rules to Read More Books This Year. I echo these suggestions if you’re hoping / planning to read more this year.

2. Frederica Mathewes-Green is one of the most interesting pro-life women I’ve come across. Here’s an interview with her and Marvin Olasky. And don’t miss her classic article, “When Abortion Stopped Making Sense.”

3. Morgan Lee – Millennials Can Leave Evangelicalism. But Not Its Pop Culture. Morgan devotes her excellent reporting skills to the wave of nostalgia among evangelicals for 90’s Christian pop culture. I’m working on an article about this phenomenon. I hope to post it next week.

4. This was one of the most visited articles on The New York Times website last year. Aging Parents with Lots of Stuff, and Children Who Don’t Want It.

5. Kyle Harper – The First Sexual Revolution: How Christianity Transformed the Ancient World. Harper gets a few things backwards in his take on specific New Testament texts, but he’s right to see sexual ethics as integral to early Christian witness.

6. Hannah Anderson – Finding Our Place: Our Family’s Long Quest for Calling and Home. This is the first longform piece for TGC, and it’s very well done. Good thoughts here about rootedness and place.

7. Peggy Noonan – The Lies of “The Crown” and “The Post.” Noonan points out some of the inaccuracies in recent historical dramas and why they matter.
