I’ve been enjoying the video series with Jonathan Pennington called “Cars, Coffee, Theology.” Dr. Pennington, one of my past professors at Southern Seminary, has started a collection of interviews, including Tom Schreiner, Mike Cosper, Matthew Levering, Russell Moore, and Dominick Hernandez.
Last week, it was my turn to jump in the car with Dr. Pennington for a wide-ranging conversation on discipleship, self-fulfillment, and eschatology. This is the first time I ever thought about how strange it is that the apostles choose not to use “disciple” language in the New Testament letters. We both wonder out loud about why that might be the case.
