Hallelujah! “The God of all grace has called you to eternal glory in Christ (1Pet.5:10). He is “the God of endurance and encouragement who gives unity and harmony to his beloved; the God of hope who loves to fill his children with all joy and peace in believing; and the God of peace who is for us, with us, and will never forsake us. Amen!” (pp Rom. 15:5,13, 33)
Gracious Father, thank you for revealing yourself to us and for wanting us to know you as you truly are. From Genesis though Revelation, you have made yourself known as the God of all grace, and in Romans 15 you “unpack” that title for us a little bit, telling us you are…
“The God of endurance and encouragement”—and we need an ample supply of each, Abba. You know us by name, geography, and circumstance so you don’t have to guess what our struggles and needs are. Grant us grace perfectly shaped for our individual stories. Tune our hearts to the key of unity-and-kindness. Our culture desperately needs the music of the Gospel in the midst of so much dissonance, noise, and cacophony.
“The God of hope”—If it’s not asking too much, let us smell the aroma of the new heaven and new earth wafting towards us. This will free us to live and love to your glory all the way Home—with overflowing joy, growing in servant love, anticipating the Day of all things new.
“The God of peace.” Abba, may your peace rule in our hearts as surely as you have made Jesus the ruler of the kings of the earth, and of everything else. Indeed, may your peace shrink our fears, wilt our worries, and supersize our neighbor love. Things aren’t gonna just be “okay,” but perfect. So VeryAmen.
