“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of gods. His love endures forever. Give thanks to the Lord of lords: His love endures forever.” Psalm 136:1-3
Heavenly Father, what a gift Psalm 136 is—just like every portion of your Word. In each of its 26 verses, this same declaration reverberates 26 times, with escalating joy, “His love endures forever.” Your incomparable love for us in Jesus is the most glorious, necessary, satisfying, unwavering, centering, liberating, hope-giving reality in our lives. Hallelujah, thank you, and drive it deep into our hearts.
Your love endures forever. No illness will persist, and divisiveness cannot. Kindness will get kinder, but meanness will be crushed under its own ugliness Every shred of a “Us versus Them” attitude will perish; but your every-nation-family will flourish throughout eternity.
Your love endures forever. Our brokenness and selfishness, knowing-you-in-part and loving-others-in-part all have an expiration date. We will finally and fully be like Jesus. Every “day” in eternity, your “Fatherhood” and worship-worthiness, Jesus’ incomparable beauty and joy, and the Holy Spirit’s magnificence will be more obvious and precious to us.
Your love endures forever. Minimizing, marginalizing and misrepresenting you to ourselves, and others, will all burn up. Your glory, Christ-supremacy, and perfect everything will fill the earth. No more racism, tribalism, poverty, inequity, injustice, hurricanes, wars, abuse—every expression of sin will be gone. Father, we crave that eternal-Day more than ever. Bring it soon!
