Psalm 63:1-5 NLT – O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you;

my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.

Heavenly Father, this Psalm is like an oasis of the desert, always beckoning us to gospel-sanity and heart-flourishing. We can say with David, “you are my God,” only because you redeemed, adopted, and made us your beloved children in Jesus.

We earnestly seek you today because you sought, found, and continue to pursue us for rich fellowship. What a Father you are. Every experience of thirst pales in comparison with the DNA-given thirst we have for you. We long for you with the most intense craving; for we have been made by you, for you.

2 I have seen you in your sanctuary and gazed upon your power and glory.

We see you the best in the sanctuary of the gospel of your grace. There, in the face of Jesus we discover you to be more glorious than we ever imagined, more loving than we ever hoped, and more sovereign than we ever dreamed.

3 Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you!

Father, your love doesn’t just give us a great life; your love is better than life itself. When we’re most alive to your love, our worries shrivel, our shame shrinks, and our hope thrives. Your love is as unwavering as it is limitless.

4 I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer.

With our hearts and hands, our time and treasure, in our joys and in our sorrows, we will seek to honor and glorify you.

5 You satisfy me more than the richest feast. I will praise you with songs of joy.

Father, there is no feast or banquet, no riches or inheritance, no relationship or romance that can satisfy us the way you fulfill us in Jesus. May our whole being praise you with songs of joy and a life of praise. So very Amen we pray, in Jesus’ wonderful and merciful name.
