Heavenly Father, nothing is more daily and revealing than our words—the monologues in our minds, and the interaction of our day. That is quite sobering. We don’t want to contradict your grace and beauty by a thoughtless and heartless use of our words.
Since whatever fills our hearts shapes our words, we choose to set our minds, hearts, and affection on you right now. We want our hearts to be so full of your kindness and grace, Father, it’ll be hard to use our words to hurt, shame, or discourage anyone. It’s possible to say even the most difficult things in redemptive ways. That’s how we want to think and speak today, Father.
So, we remember these things as this day begins. Thank you for drawing us to yourself with everlasting love and binding us to yourself with cords of tenderness. Thank you for using your kindness to lead us to repentance. Thank you for giving Jesus on our behalf, and for hiding our lives in him.
Thank you for placing your Spirit in our hearts, where he is constantly speaking to us of our beloved-ness and your Fatherly love. Indeed, because the gospel is true, we are forgiven and righteous, desired and enjoyed, fully known and forever secure. BOOM!
Nothing can separate us from your love, diminish your affection, or derail your plan for us. From the overflow of such amazing grace, we will purpose to use our words to bless, encourage, and heal today. So very Amen we pray, in Jesus’ great and gracious name.
