May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Romans 15:13

Heavenly Father, this one verse is so marination-worthy and heart-encouraging. As “the God of hope,” we look to you for joy and peace, in a season waring against both. By your Spirit, refresh our joy and peace—no, make that super-size them.

The joy of knowing you love us as much as you love Jesus; for you’ve clothed us in his righteousness, forgiven our every sin, and made us your beloved children.

The joy of living in your unwavering favor, constant delight, and contingency-free sovereignty.

The peace of realizing things aren’t just going to be okay, but “beyond all we can ask or imagine” (Eph. 3:20). We take you at your word: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him” (1 Cor. 2:19).

The peace of trusting you with the hearts of our kids, the politics of the nations, the length of our lives, and the timing of Jesus’ return.

May we live this one day as good friends, kind people, and neighbor lovers. So very Amen we pray, in Jesus’ triumphant and tender name.
