“Listen, listen to me… Give ear and come to me; listen, that you may live”. Isa. 55:2-3
Heavenly Father, I love the way you address us in this passage—with much passion, earnestness and kindness. “Listen, listen to me, that you may live.” That’s all you intend for us—life, eternal life, abundant life. Thank you, Abba. Help us hear. Help us believe.
For the battle for our attention continues. So many voices vie for our soul-listening and heart-hearing. The world tries to seduce us, and Satan constantly condemns us. The “approval-suck” inside us listens to people way too much. Our worries and anxieties blast us with “what if’s” and “if only’s.” The voice of shame seeks to keep us off-balance, insecure, and deaf to the Gospel.
But then there’s your blessed voice, Father. By your Word and Spirit, you speak and we hear you say, “I love you with an everlasting, unwavering love. I bound you to my heart with the righteousness of Another, and unbreakable ropes of grace. The good work I started in you; I will finish. Your sin, heartache, suffering… all will pass. You can trust me. You can know and rely on the love I have for you.”
Father, thank you. Please turn the volume up to 11 or 12. Drown out all the noise, lies, and . So very Amen we pray, in Jesus’ glorious and grace-full name.
