Love Jesus’ Cross, Kindness, Kingdom, and Coming

Thus says the LORD of hosts: In those days ten men from the nations of every tongue shall take hold of the robe of a Jew, saying, ‘Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’” Zechariah 8:23

Lord Jesus, cutting to the redemptive-chase, you are the only One who could possibly fulfill the history-defining hope of Zechariah’s vision. We can never over-emphasize, over-trust, or over-rejoice in you being the “Yes!” to every promise our Father has made (2 Cor. 1:20).

God the Son and Son of God, from the family of Adam and the tribe of Judah—you came into the world to do for us what we could never do for ourselves. On this September Sunday, we praise, bless, and adore you.

By your law-fulfilling obedience, judgment-exhausting death, and everything-changing resurrection—you are now gathering for yourself a Bride “from the nations of every tongue” (Rev. 7:9). This is the storyline that defines human history, more so than any other.

Zechariah’s vision is pregnant with more goodness than he realized. It is you, Lord Jesus, who actually grabs hold of us in the Gospel, robing us in your perfect righteousness—securing and preparing us for an eternity of consummate joy and wholeness, unfettered intimacy with yourself, perfect love among your every-nation Bride, unbreakable peace… and a whole lot more really awesome stuff.

Lord Jesus, when we wake up to a divided world, when we walk into divisive conversations and settings; when we worry our family gatherings will be physically gathered—but emotionally, spiritually, politically scattered… fill our hearts with your cross, your kindness, your Kingdom, and your coming. So very Amen.
